Applied Maths
Applied Maths Course Overview
Leaving Certificate Applied Mathematics is built around using mathematics to model real-world problems. Curriculum Online describes the subject as a way for students to move through the problem-solving cycle: asking useful questions, representing situations mathematically, calculating, interpreting results and checking whether answers make sense in context. The specification is assessed at Higher and Ordinary Level through a modelling project and an examination paper, so students need both conceptual fluency and clear written communication. Digital technology may be used as a learning tool in parts of the course. Zr Academy lessons connect mechanics, networks, algorithms and modelling tasks to structured exam practice. Students learn how to identify assumptions, choose methods, show reasoning cleanly and explain conclusions, while steadily improving algebra, diagrams, units and timing.
