Irish/Gaeilge
Irish/Gaeilge Course Overview
Leaving Certificate Gaeilge builds on the language developed during Junior Cycle and strengthens all four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Curriculum Online explains that students are encouraged to take an active part in Ireland's bilingual society, develop and share views on a range of topics, and prepare for further study in or through Irish. Irish is assessed at Foundation, Ordinary and Higher Level. The oral examination takes place around Easter of the final year and is worth 40 percent at each level, with the other language skills assessed in June. Zr Academy lessons help students prepare speaking responses, improve grammar accuracy, build topic vocabulary, understand prose and poetry, and answer comprehension and composition tasks with confidence.
