Biology
Biology Course Overview
Leaving Certificate Biology develops curiosity, enthusiasm and scientific understanding of life. Curriculum Online notes that a new Biology specification is being introduced for fifth-year students from September 2025, while the current syllabus remains the relevant examination route to June 2026. The subject asks students to understand core biological concepts, apply them to systems and interactions, develop inquiry and practical skills, and recognise how science, society and ethics connect. Zr Academy lessons turn that broad curriculum into a clear study plan. Students build strong topic knowledge in cells, genetics, ecology, physiology, plants, microbiology and experiments, then practise how to explain processes, compare systems, analyse data and answer exam questions precisely. The course places particular emphasis on definitions, diagrams, mandatory practical work and common marking-scheme language.
